Metta Carawan Austin, 85, of Manteo, died November 5, 2022 at home. She was born in Hyde County on December 29, 1936.

Survivors include husband Jerry Maness Austin; daughters Lorna Daniels (Allen) and Gina Terry (Paul); son Greg Sadler; stepchildren Deanie Midgett (Timmy) and Jay Austin (Renee); 12 grandchildren and other family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings Jane Barber, Glen Carawan, Bill Carawan and Edward Carawan.
