Manteo Holiday Tour of Homes makes a comeback December 3

The Holiday Tour of Homes is coming back to Manteo on Saturday, December 3 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m, presented by the Manteo Preservation Trust.

Attendees can purchase tickets at Outer Banks Distilling, located at 510 Budleigh Street, on the day of the tour only. The ticket price is $25 per person and it is a self-guided tour. This can be done via car, walking or bicycles provided by Manteo Cyclery on a first come, first served basis or bring your own bike. The route is 1.75 miles and it can be done in whatever property order is preferred. Ticket sales will begin at noon with the tour beginning promptly at 1 p.m. The last tickets will be sold at 5 p.m.

Jeanne DeCamps and Bill Husted, after working on the tour for several years, are excited to have the opportunity to organize this holiday event for its 15^th run. “We beyond love it,” said DeCamps, “and the first weekend in December is perfect time to be in Manteo.” The tour will happen after Friday night’s tree lighting event downtown and the 50^th Annual Christmas parade, which will take place that Saturday morning. DeCamps shared that the Manteo Preservation Trust will be taking part in the parade this year, driving a vintage truck in an effort to promote the tour that will follow.

Several raffle baskets with donations from local businesses have been contributed to aid in the trust’s largest fundraising event of the year. Tickets will be $10 each or guests can purchase six tickets for $50. Tickets will be drawn at 4 p.m. at Outer Banks Distilling.

The coordinators shared that the Manteo Preservation Trust has partnered with several restaurants and two hotels in downtown Manteo who will provide discounts to those who eat and stay upon showing purchased tour tickets. Partner restaurants include Avenue Grille, Poor Richard’s Sandwich Shop, Lost Colony Tavern and The Hungry Pelican. Discounted rooms will be available with purchased tour tickets at the Roanoke Island Inn and the White Doe Inn.

“We’ve had so many calls coming in from out of the area,” DeCamps said. “We have got a good variety of properties that are in the tour, some are one hundred years old,” added Husted. Some properties included the in tour are recently built, others have timed architectural features, one consists of a yacht-turned-Airbnb and another is a historic church. “We really have a good variety of ages and types of homes this year,” Husted said. “And just some amazing drawings for baskets and goodies.”
