On November 21, The OBX Wave Riders 4-H Club came together once again to pack Thanksgiving baskets for the Roanoke Island Woman’s Club and Dare County Department of Health and Human Services Thanksgiving program. The baskets were to be distributed to those in need. The 4-H project took place at the Son Rise Church of Christ following the November club meeting.

Many of the 4-H members and their families brought food such as turkey, canned corn and green beans, celery, stuffing, butter, broth, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, rolls, marshmallows and pie, along with beverages and napkins. Also donated for children of the recipients were books, clothing, crayons and toys. The group of 16 4-H members (including officers) and 11 adults packed eight baskets.

Once complete, Club Vice President Slade Sloan and his mother, Jody Sloan, dropped the baskets off at the Woman’s Club in Manteo. The club looks forward to making this project an annual event.
