Brianna Williams named new principal at Columbia High School

Tyrrell County Schools has announced that Brianna Willams is the new principal of Columbia High School.

Williams is a native of Hyde County and most recently served as an administrator and instructional leader in Beaufort County Schools. She comes with school administration and teaching experience at the middle and high school levels. Williams previously worked for Wake County and Pitt County Schools.

Williams is a graduate of University of Mount Olive (formerly Mount Olive College) with a bachelor of science in biology and a minor in chemistry. She also played college basketball there. Williams holds a master of arts in teaching degree in secondary science education and graduated with a master of school administration degree from East Carolina University and also holds a curriculum instructional specialist license.

The announcement from Tyrrell County Schools noted that Williams is “excited about providing instructional leadership for our teachers and students and forming partnerships with families and the community.” Mrs. Williams started January 30th.

“We Want to thank Mrs. Sheila Cumiskey for ensuring that CHS had stability during this time of transition,” the announcement continued. “Mrs. Cumiskey is a valued member of our leadership team and she will continue to support Mrs. Williams as a member of the District Leadership Team. Please help us welcome Mrs. Williams to Tyrrell County Schools!”
