Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Hebrews 4:16 ESV

No two are alike as far as I know. Piers are either concrete and steel or weathered wood, and they have their own story to tell. And they do their job which is to allow us to walk out over the water to fish, gaze, dream or feel the sunlight. Maybe even stargaze. I have taken my camera below the pier to wait for the waves to hit the pilings leaving lots of salt spray. It’s amazing! When I am walking the pier I feel like I am soaring with the birds seeing everything from an elevated view. On a windy day I can feel the weathered planks beneath my feet move with the waves. Piers are so unique. I try to walk on one every chance I get!

I wonder how God sees us sometimes. We, too, are unique … some more sturdy than others and some more weathered! He rejoices when we are grateful, when we make Him first, when we love Him. He tasks us with loving others through Him. Like a pier resting on sturdy pilings, He provides the sure footing that allows Him to catch us in any fall. He is there for the asking … but we have to ask Him to be in our life.

When I think of God and His Glory, I think of the word “grace.” It is said it is a gift uninherited, not earned. It is given freely. And that is what God offers us, the gift of grace. We can never measure up, we are not perfect, but to know that despite all we have done, all we are, God still loves us sinners and gives us grace. Let’s be reminded of His great love for us always.
