Recently when we moved to our new home, we were blessed to also have a pool. It has a fountain so there is always the sound of water surrounding our home. I think it is wonderful, calming and serene. My husband, on the other hand, has a plumbing background. When he hears running water, he immediately checks for leaks, overflow, floods, etc. I will say it has taken him a little while to get used to the sound of the water but that is just how he is programmed. We are each very different and have different perspectives because of our backgrounds.

I am always amazed when I run into someone who doesn’t like the beach. It is something that has been a part of me since I was a youngster and I couldn’t imagine not seeing the waves, birds, grasses, piers and sand. And the when folks say they don’t care for seafood, well my mouth is watering at the wonderful thought of it!

We are all different, that’s for sure, but if we have a different opinion does that mean we suddenly don’t like that person anymore? No, not at all. We can find middle ground. We are all God’s children, and He teaches us that Love covers all. We are given it freely by Him, we are to freely give it to others through Him. Practicing understanding and tolerance are so hard. I have to fight the tendency to think that I am right all the time. Humbly, I think I need to talk less and listen more. I just might learn something! Offering my thoughts only when asked would be a good place to start and then try to be careful to say only what would honor and glorify God. Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. I Peter 3:8 ESV
