Schedule set for Waterfowl Festival in Hatteras village

The Hatteras Village Waterfowl Festival is coming to Hatteras Island once again Feb. 24-25, 2023.

A schedule of events has been published for Saturday, Feb. 25. All events are free and open to the public.

Hatteras Civic Center main stage events

Get the latest headlines sent to you

Variety of vendors, exhibits along with main stage events, a Cape Hatteras Secondary School student art show, food and drinks and information

11 a.m.: Hawk Manor raptor demonstration

Noon: Duck call presentation

1 p.m.: Duck/goose – identification

2 p.m.: Duck call competition

3 p.m.: Keeper James, historic talk

4 p.m.: Hawk Manor raptor demonstration

Hatteras Island Ocean Center

Variety of make-and-take crafts for kids, tour the Ocean Center, self-guided bird walks, exhibits and displays

10 a.m.: Guided bird walk/watch, make and take crafts:

10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Make and take: nature craft

10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Make and take: bird bands

10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Make and take: binoculars

10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Self-guided nature walks

2 p.m.: Plastics scavenger hunt

Hatteras Community Building: At 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., local artist Trish Dempsey will lead guided painting of the 2023 featured waterfowl, the mallard. Sign up at info booth at the Civic Center. Seats are limited.
