On February13, 2023, Rip Michael Kirby went to be with his Lord and Savior. Rip loved Currituck, he always called it God’s country. Rip was born August 16, 1958 in Atlantic City, NJ.

He was preceded by his mother, June Riggs Kirby; father, John Joseph Kirby; stepfather, Doug; along with aunts, uncles and a cousin.

Rip is survived by his son, John Kirby with his wife Lauren and their four children and his grandchildren Tyler, Braelyn, Quinn, Caden; his longtime girlfriend and best friend of 25 years, Kimberley Ann Hayes; his three brothers, Steve Kirby, David Kirby and Michael Kirby; and David’s children, Rip’s niece and nephew, Heather and Tyler.

Rip was an outdoors man, he lived to fish, hike, grow vegetables and be around animals and nature.

Rip served our country in the Navy from 1976-1980 as a jet pilot mechanic. He also owned his own business Rips HVAC, exceeding in the field to be one of best in the trade. He retired in recent years due to work related injuries and surgeries and devolved diabetes and slow health decline resulting in his passing. Rip was a good, respectful, caring individual who would give his time and talents for others. He will be missed and thought of by many.

A celebration of life was held at BJ’s in Jarvisburg, NC on March 24th, from 2-5 p.m. all were welcome. Please share condolences with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
