Baseball tournament lined up at Cape Hatteras Secondary

The Surf, Sand and Service Baseball Tournament is scheduled for March 31 and April 1 at Cape Hatteras Secondary School in Buxton.

The tournament honors military personnel and first responders.

Visiting teams are Green Hope and Panther Creek, both from Cary and both 4-A schools.

On Friday, March 31, Cape Hatteras will play Green Hope with the start time at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, April 1, Cape Hatteras plays Panther Creek at noon and at 2 p.m., Green Hope and Panther Creek collide.

The tournament charges no team entrance fee. Instead, coaches and players are asked to bring two canned food items to donate to the Cape Hatteras Food Pantry, directly across NC 12 from Cape Hatteras Secondary.

A silent auction with baseball and island-themed items will be offered.

Spectator ticket price per tournament day is $5 per person.

Coaches will select tournament awards for most valuable player, patriotism and first responder awards and an all-tournament team.

Cape Hatteras Secondary School is located at 48576 NC 12 in Buxton.
