The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association is considering a change to its Operation Beach Respect format for 2024.

With support from the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the new program will be called ADOPT-A-BEACH.

The association will be conducting a “pilot” beach cleanup Saturday morning, Dec. 16.

The organization is looking for about 12-15 volunteers to meet at Ramp 23 south of Salvo at 9 a.m. Participants will drive and walk the beach in the north and south direction looking for trash, liter, boards, etc.

The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association will provide trash bags, grabbers and vests. It is recommended to bring a 5-gallon bucket, which is much easier to fill. This should be no more than a two-hour commitment.
