Katie Christine Medlin, 98, formerly of Buxton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 26th in Midlothian, Virginia. Originally from Henderson, North Carolina; Christine moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1953. She was one of eleven siblings, and was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Fletcher R. Medlin.
Christine is survived by her son, Dennis Medlin, and his wife Penny, of Midlothian, Virginia. She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Amanda O’Connell and her husband Jack of Henrico, Virginia; Austin Medlin and his wife Faye, of Richmond, Virginia; and Ashley Robinson and her husband Zach, of Richmond, Virginia. Christine was also a proud great-grandmother to Graham and Hunter O’Connell, and Arlo and August Medlin.
Christine retired as a supervisor from Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) in 1979. Upon retirement, she and Fletcher moved to Buxton where they became beloved members of the community for 43 years. “Katie,” as she was fondly known down in Hatteras, was an avid fisherwoman, and was a lifetime member of the Cape Hatteras Angler’s Club along with her husband, Fletcher, where she won numerous tournaments.
Christine will be laid to rest beside Fletcher at Elmwood Cemetery, in Henderson, North Carolina on September 8, 2024, at 1 p.m.
