It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Billie Jean Ramsey Ketterman, age 75 years, a resident of Parsons, WV on October 17, 2024. She departed this life after a battle with Alzheimer’s at Cortland Acres in Thomas, WV with her family by her side.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William J. (Bill) and Audrey Ramsey, her brother Bradley J. (Brad) Ramsey and her loving in laws Charles A. (Pete) and Mary Anna Ketterman.
She is survived by her husband of forty eight years, Tracy John (TJ) Ketterman; her children, Jeff (Kelly) Halfin, Kevin (Michelle) Halfin, Sarah (Leif) Jess; grandchildren, Jordan (Courtney), Halea (Kyle), Dakota, Cassidy, Mykenzie (Cody), Lane, John-Michael (Kierstin) and Megan; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Everett and Scarlett; sister in law, Pauletta Ramsey, brother in law, Charles A. (Butch) Ketterman (Mary Lou); nieces and nephews, Heather (Pete), Daniel (Emily), Erin (Chad); and several more nieces and nephews and many close friends here and on the Outer Banks of NC.
After graduating from Parsons High School in 1967, she started her lifelong career of thirty-four years at Laurel Run Mining Company and later transferred to the Outer Banks and continued her career with Dominion Power until her retirement in 2009.
Billie had many accomplishments in her lifetime and continued her education at the College of The Albemarle to obtain her associate degree. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for forty years. She enjoyed reading, movies, traveling and she was an avid watcher of her UNC Tarheels and WVU Mountaineers Basketball teams. Her biggest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. In her later years, she loved going for rides nightly with TJ looking for and watching deer.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. The Reverend James Snyder officiated, and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Bradley J. Ramsey Memorial Scholarship Foundation (tuckerfoundation.net) and the Alzheimer’s Association (Alz.org). The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Billie Jean Ketterman.
