The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has issued the felony blotter for December 2024.

Hatteras Island reported eight offenses, three in Buxton, two in Rodanthe and one each in Waves, Salvo and Frisco.

Roanoke Island was next with four and Wanchese with two. Martins Point and Colington had one each.

Dec. 3: Larceny. 48000 block of Nace Jennette Rd., Buxton. Paddle board stolen from outside of a residence.

Dec. 4: Larceny. CB Daniels Sr. Rd., Wanchese. Victim reported 79,000 gallons of water being stolen after they received their water bill. A hose leading to the neighbor’s house led deputies to a potential suspect. Upon further investigation a suspect was identified and charged for the theft.

Larceny. 22000 block of Sea Gull St., Rodanthe. Victim reported multiple thefts from a housekeeper. Under Investigation.

Dec. 5: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 25000 block of NC 12, Waves. Victim reported medication stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Dec. 5: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 27000 block of Salvo. Victim reported sending scammers approximately $8,500 in Bitcoin as part of a PayPal scam. Under investigation.

Dec. 9: Larceny by Employee. 46000 block of NC 12, Buxton. Former employee reportedly stole from the business over a period of time. Under investigation.

Dec. 10: Identity Theft. 100 block of Margaret Court, Roanoke Island. Fraudulent Walmart account opened using the victim’s email. No money was lost.

Dec. 12: Worthless Check. 50000 block of Timber Trail, Frisco. A worthless check for more than $2,700 presented to the victim in lieu of money owed. Under investigation.

Dec. 15: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 1000 block of Burnside Rd. Roanoke Island. Fraudulent loan taken out in the victim’s name. Loan disputed with lender.

Dec. 16: Breaking and Entering. 24000 block of Trade Winds Dr., Rodanthe. House under construction vandalized. Under investigation.

Dec. 18: Conspire to Obtain Property by False Pretenses. 2000 block of Martins Point Rd., Martins Point. Subject’s personal information used to create fraudulent rental property listings.

Dec. 20: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 900 block of Marshall C. Collins Dr., Roanoke Island. The victim reported medication stolen from a friend’s vehicle while they attended drug court.

Dec. 23: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 900 block of First St., Roanoke Island. Victim sent scammers $1,000 on prepaid cards as part of a phone scam where the scammers convinced the victim a family member was arrested.

Dec. 27: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 48000 block of NC 12, Buxton. Fraudulent charges on the victim’s bank account. The bank is investigating further.

Dec. 30: Worthless Check. 200 block of Sir Chandler Dr., Colington. Stop payment put on a business check issued in 2021 for more than $40,000. Under investigation.

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 200 block of Burrus Rd., Wanchese. Victim sent scammers approx. $6,700 as part of a Facebook Marketplace/Bitcoin scam. Under investigation.
