Jarvisburg – Billy R. Hodges, 95, went to his heavenly Father on January 28, 2025, having lived a full life of service and love. He loved and took pride in his country. Billy was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving two tours.
Born in Roanoke, VA, Billy was the youngest of 14 children. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Clinton Hodges and Adell Croft Hodges; all of his brothers and sisters; and his beloved daughter, Joan Hodges Banks.
Billy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Drusilla Hodges, two cherished daughters, Donna Rudderow (Geoff), and Diane Iorio; six grandchildren, Christopher Rudderow, Bennett Iorio, Leann Iorio, Jazae Banks, Airakaya Banks, D’Majae Banks; three great-grandchildren, and his nephew, H.B. Hodges, and niece, Dorothy Bartram.
Billy believed in honesty and hard work. In Virginia, he was a 35-year employee of General Electric Co, Consumer Electronics. Moving to North Carolina, he studied Environmental Health. At 80 years old, Billy retired from Enviro-Tech. At the company’s Corolla Water facility, he was dubbed “the Legend” by other Water System Operators for his longevity in a dangerous job.
Billy will be missed as he crosses that footbridge over Tinker Creek. No services are planned. Please leave a message of comfort at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
