Don and Catharine Bryan Cultural Series announces 2025 Film Series

The Don and Catharine Bryan Cultural Series has announced its upcoming Film Series, showcasing an eclectic mix of beloved classics and cinematic masterpieces. This exciting series will take place over four Sundays in February and March 2025, offering audiences a chance to experience iconic films on the big screen at R/C Kill Devil Hills Movies 10, located at 803 N Croatan Hwy. in Kill Devil Hills.

Each screening begins at 4 p.m. with tickets priced at just $10 (plus tax and fees). Seating is limited to 80 per screening, so it is advised to get tickets early. Tickets are also available at the RC Theaters concession stand and website.

Film Schedule:

  • Sunday, February 2, 2025 – “The Sting” (1973, PG):
    Relive the charm and wit of Paul Newman and Robert Redford in this all-time heist classic set in 1930s Chicago.
  • Sunday, February 23, 2025 – “Do the Right Thing” (1989, R):
    Celebrate Black History Month with Spike Lee’s groundbreaking modern classic, a powerful story of love, tension and community in Brooklyn.
  • Sunday, March 2, 2025 – “What’s Up Doc?” (1972, G):
    Laugh along with Barbra Streisand and Ryan O’Neal in this rare-to-see-on-the-big-screen screwball comedy gem.
  • Sunday, March 9, 2025 – “Much Ado About Nothing” (1993, PG-13):
    Experience Kenneth Branagh’s masterful Shakespeare adaptation with an all-star cast, including Emma Thompson and Denzel Washington.

Each screening will be uniquely introduced by Dr. Christopher Palestrant, a professor at Elizabeth City State University, who will provide an insightful look into each film’s context, stars and its role in American cinema.
