Jerald “Jerry” Russell Harris of Harbinger NC, born May 8, 1949 in Rocky Mount, NC, passed away January 28, 2025 at age 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Harris of Rocky Mount. Jerry attended UNC at Chapel Hill and was a graduate of Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount. He was a rod builder for 34 years for Whalebone Tackle, was an avid Tarheel fan, enjoyed watching NASCAR, and going fishing.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Paulette Ward Harris; son Ricky Harris of the home; daughter, Chris Ward (Brad) of Clayton, NC; son, Matthew Ward (Jennifer) of Saint Paul’s, NC, grandson, Dylan Lee Ward of Saint Paul’s, NC; four granddaughters, Kaytlyn Ward, Rylie Ward and Lia Baxter all of Clayton, NC and Cecili Ro of Seoul, South Korea. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, two of Seoul, South Korea and one of Clayton, NC; one niece and one nephew of Selma, NC; mother in-law, Marie Ray of Smithfield NC, sister-in-law of Selma, NC; and a host of friends from the fishing industry and charter boaters and mates, Bill McCaskill, special friends and neighbors Alice and Morris Gray of Harbinger, NC.
