Front Porch Café has announced the acquisition of the former McDonald’s building located at 5336 N Croatan Hwy. in Kitty Hawk. The purchase of the property was finalized on January 28, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth.

“This new location will be Front Porch Café’s fourth corporate-owned store and the first to feature a drive-through, making it even more convenient for customers to enjoy their favorite coffee, teas, and locally sourced baked goods,” stated the announcement. “Renovations and construction will be led by Brian Smith of Smith Contracting, a trusted name in quality construction throughout the Outer Banks.”

“We’re thrilled to bring Front Porch Café to Kitty Hawk and introduce our first-ever drive-through location,” said Laura Wayland, owner. “Our mission has always been to create warm and inviting spaces where the community can connect, and this new store allows us to do that while also providing a more convenient option for our customers on the go.”

The newly renovated store is slated to open its doors in the spring. “Customers can look forward to a refreshed space that combines modern design with the cozy, welcoming atmosphere Front Porch Café is known for. The menu will feature the signature beverages, baked goods, and light fare that have made the brand a beloved part of the Outer Banks community,” the announcement continued.

Established in 1999, Front Porch Café was the first small batch roasted coffee shop on the Outer Banks.
