A North Carolina woman scored a six-figure win on a scratch-off ticket.
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Mary Baker, of Scotland Neck, took a chance on a $5 scratch-off and won the first $250,000 top prize in a new lottery game.
Baker bought her lucky 20X The Cash ticket from The Smart Shop on 12th Street in Scotland Neck.
The Halifax County woman arrived at lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim her prize and, after required federal and state tax withholdings, took home $179,376.
The 20X The Cash game debuted this week with eight top prizes of $250,000. Seven $250,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
