First Fight’s Morgan Miller won her fourth individual state championship and three other area athletes set personal best marks at the 3A NCHSAA Indoor Track and Field State Championship this past weekend.

Running at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, Miller and Olivia Ferraro (North Lincoln) pulled away from the rest of the field and traded the lead for the first couple of laps. Then, around the 500 meter mark, Miller took the lead and kept it. Pulling away from the rest of the field around every turn, the junior speedster from First Flight left no doubt as to the 3200 meter outcome and posted a winning time of 10:49.37. More than 14 seconds back was June Leis from AC Reynolds placed second at 11:03.96 and Ferraro finished in third place with a 11:08.49.

This was Miller’s second 3200 state indoor title and he is a two time state cross country champion.
