The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of an Avon man on several charges.

According to a DCSO news release, on February 13, 2025, the “Dare County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service. Upon investigation, probable cause was determined that a crime had occurred and led to the issuance of warrants for arrest.”

Luther G. Hooper III, 68, of Avon, was arrested and charged with felony indecent exposure in public with a minor present, indecent liberties with a minor, and misdemeanor multiple counts of sexual battery. He is currently being held at the Dare County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center in lieu of a $400,000 bond.
