Catherine Hamill show at UUCOB kicks off with opening event March 9

The three-month show of Manteo artist Catherine Hamill­ will open on March 9 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Outer Banks (UUCOB) at 11:30 a.m. The event will showcase a unique collection of current work by Hamill, offering a dynamic exploration of color, form and emotion.

The artist will give a talk promptly at 11:45 a.m., sharing insights into her creative processes and inspirations.

Hamill’s artistic journey began with photography in 1975. In 1993, Hamill transitioned to painting in oil, which led to her success as a muralist, children’s book illustrator and teacher. Her commissions have included portraits, houses, boats and animals – her favorite subject.

Hamill, a dedicated artist and educator, has had solo exhibits in both Connecticut and North Carolina. She has received numerous accolades, including “First Place,” “Best in Show” and “People’s Choice” awards.

Since moving to the Outer Banks, she has been actively involved in teaching and conducting paint-along workshops at Dare Arts Center and various local venues.

The public is welcome to attend the opening reception where they will be greeted by a vibrant atmosphere, with walls adorned with striking paintings that will captivate their imaginations. The UUCOB Meetinghouse is located at 813 Herbert Perry Rd., on the corner of Kitty Hawk Rd. in Kitty Hawk.
