The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has issued the felony blotter for February 2025. The listing covers the unincorporated area of Dare County.

Some 15 incidents are detailed, including six on Hatteras Island, four on Roanoke Island, three in Colington and one each in Wanchese and Manns Harbor. In Frisco, a firearm was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Feb. 4: Larceny by Changing Price Tag. 41000 block of NC 12, Avon. Security video shows a couple switching price tags on items and then paying a lesser price for the item. Under investigation.

Feb. 5: Identity Theft. 100 block of Algonkian Dr., Roanoke Island. Fraudulent phone account opened in the victim’s name. The phone provider is investigating further.

Computer Trespass. 200 block of Cahoon Rd., Manns Harbor. While speaking with fake tech support, the victim’s computer was hacked. Scammers tried to transfer money and tried to get the victim to send money via Bitcoin. No funds were lost.

Feb. 6: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 90 block of Cooper Lane, Wanchese. Victim believes someone entered their unlocked, disabled vehicle. Nothing stolen.

Feb. 9: Larceny. 200 block of Roanoke Dr., Colington. Money reported stolen from a residence.

Feb. 11: Breaking and Entering. 700 block of NC 345, Roanoke Island. Storage unit broken into. Fishing equipment stolen. Under investigation.

Feb. 13: Breaking and Entering. 700 block of NC 345, Roanoke Island. Additional storage units discovered to be broken into. Under investigation.

Feb. 14: Breaking and Entering. 600 block Harriot St., Roanoke Island. Jewelry and money stolen. Under investigation.

Feb. 18: Forgery. 2000 block of Colington Road, Colington. Fake check issued on the victim’s account. The bank is investigating further.

Larceny. 58000 block of Dunes Dr., Hatteras. Fishing equipment stolen from a storage closet.

Feb. 19: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 52000 block of NC 12, Frisco. Firearm stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

Feb. 20: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 41000 block of Breeches Buoy Lane, Avon. Fake checks issued on the victim’s account. The bank is investigating further.

Feb. 21: Breaking and Entering. 48000 block of Daniel Lane, Buxton. Victim reported tools stolen from a camper.

Feb. 24: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 47000 block of NC 12, Buxton. Fake checks issued on the victim’s account. Under investigation.

Feb. 26: Financial Card Fraud. 100 block of Lee Court, Colington. Unauthorized transactions on the victim’s financial card.
