The NC Cooperative Extension in Currituck County has announced the appointment of Broughton Goodson as the county’s new agriculture agent. In this role, Goodson will lead initiatives that support the county’s agricultural sector, provide expert guidance to farmers and growers, and oversee the county’s pesticide education programs.
A native of Pitt County, Goodson “brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for agriculture to the position,” noted an announcement from the Currituck Extension. He earned his bachelor’s degree in agriculture science with minors in agriculture business management and bio and agricultural engineering technology from North Carolina State University. He officially began his service on February 3.
“We are thrilled to have Broughton join our team,” said Cameron Lowe, county Extension director. “His dedication to supporting local growers, coupled with his expertise and enthusiasm, makes him the perfect fit to advance our agricultural programs and help our community thrive.”
“I am looking forward to closely working with farmers in Currituck County and continuing to advance programs that make an impact at the farm level and beyond,” said Goodson.
