The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) recognized two members for their volunteer service during last month’s general membership meeting. Immediate past president Richard Tolson presented the 2024 President’s Awards to Kaye Jones of TowneBank Mortgage and Lori Brooks of Howard Hanna OBX for their leadership and dedication to the association.

Jones was honored as the 2024 Community Partner of the Year for her leadership as chair of the Golf Tournament Committee. As part of the annual Surf, Turf and Roll lineup, the golf tournament benefited OBAR’s scholarship and disaster relief funds, held at the Outer Banks Community Foundation. Under Jones’s leadership, the tournament raised record-breaking funds that will help provide financial assistance to support students’ futures and assist community members during times of need.

Brooks was awarded the 2024 Committee Chair of the Year for her dedicated service as chair of the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC). “The committee plays a critical role in raising funds to support local and state candidates who protect property rights, promote homeownership, and advocate for fair, accessible property insurance,” noted the OBAR announcement of the awards. “Brooks’s tireless advocacy has been instrumental in OBAR exceeding its RPAC fundraising goals, ensuring that the voices of local REALTORS® are represented and heard at every level of government.”

“Both Kaye and Lori exemplify the spirit of volunteerism that drives OBAR forward,” said Tolson. “Their hard work has made a lasting impact on our association and the Outer Banks community. We are proud to honor them with these well-deserved awards.”
