On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Manteo’s softball team defeated Cape Hatteras Secondary 14-2 in Buxton. Manteo’s overall record now stands at 4-1.

In the seven-inning ball game, Manteo scored in every inning, garnering 19 hits.

For Manteo, Calleigh Bush pitched six innings, giving up five hits but striking out 12 batters. Bailey Dickerson pitched one inning, recording one strikeout. Manteo pitchers recorded no walks.

Four Manteo players came to home plate five times. Bush recorded four hits and two runs. Two of the four hits were doubles. Bella Huntingford hit three times and scored three runs as did Kayla Austin.

For Cape Hatteras, Audrina Huss pitched all seven innings, giving up 18 hits and three walks. She struck out seven batters.

Playing softball for Manteo High School this season are Bailey Dickerson, Calleigh Bush, Bridgett Berry, Bella Huntingford, Brooklyn Creef, Kayla Austin, Isla Crosswait, MaKenna Gray, Peedee Berry, Lilly Scarborough, Jazmine Cooper, Josie Wright, Ava Drake, Haleigh Stokes and Aubree Muir.

Manteo’s next home softball game is March 18 at 5 p.m. against First Flight High.
