The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of a Virginia man on drug and other charges following a traffic stop.
According to a CCSO news release, on March 18, 2025 at around 11:15 a.m., a deputy stopped a Nissan Xterra for a regulatory traffic violation. The Nissan’s driver, Timothy Russell Pennington, 46, of Virginia Beach, Va., did not have a driver’s license and his vehicle had a fictitious plate.
“Deputies asked the driver out of the vehicle to further investigate. During the traffic stop Pennington became uncooperative and began to physically resist lawful commands leading to a brief hands on event,” stated the release. “Once the driver was detained, a probable cause search revealed a large amount of illegal narcotics.”
Pennington was arrested and charged with maintaining a vehicle with controlled substance; possession with the intent to sell or deliver schedule II of a controlled substance (meth); possession with the intent to sell or deliver schedule II of a controlled substance (cocaine); trafficking of cocaine; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana paraphernalia; resisting a public officer; driving while license revoked; displaying fictitious registration plates; and no liability insurance.
The vehicle was seized and the driver was arrested and booked into the Currituck County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond, noted CCSO.
