Beach Food Pantry has acknowledged and expressed appreciation to Tito’s Handmade Vodka for a donation made possible through the company’s “Love, Tito’s” movement.
“This contribution will play a vital role in helping us combat food insecurity and support our community in Dare County,” stated a Beach Food Pantry news release.
Working in conjunction with Jay Ammons, bar manager at the Outer Banks Brewing Station (OBBS), Tito’s identified Beach Food Pantry as a valuable partner in the fight against hunger. OBBS’s ongoing support of Beach Food Pantry over the years highlighted the increasing need for resources to make a meaningful difference in the lives of community members.
“We are deeply grateful to Tito’s Handmade Vodka for their incredible support,” said Elisabeth Silverthorne, executive director of Beach Food Pantry. “Their donation will ensure that everyone in our community has access to nutritious food to enhance and maintain their health. Partnerships like these are vital to our mission.”
Over the past two years, participation in Beach Food Pantry programs has surged by more than 157%, reflecting a significant rise in food insecurity, noted the release. However, donations and resources have simultaneously decreased, with monetary donations, retail contributions and food drive participation all facing challenges. To bridge the gap last year, Beach Food Pantry purchased more than 44% – or 245,504 pounds – of food at full cost to distribute, further straining resources due to inflation.
“This latest donation builds upon Tito’s long-standing commitment to Beach Food Pantry, including their support for events like the Chefs’ Challenge fundraiser. Tito’s Handmade Vodka’s history of giving back underscores their dedication to strengthening communities and supporting local organizations nationwide,” stated the release.
“The Beach Food Pantry invites other community members and businesses to join the fight against hunger by volunteering, donating, or partnering with us. Together, we can ensure that no one in our community goes hungry,” the release continued.
