Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

To the Editor:

Late Friday night, March 14, 2025, the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the parent organization for The Voice of America and many other critical, international “voice” agencies, was completely defunded and shut down. (Why do some of the worst moves occur late on Friday night?) Immediately on Saturday, March 15th The Voice of America shut down. No longer is The Voice of America broadcasting in 48 languages! Our leaders wantonly accomplished what Stalin, Khruschchev, Putin, the Ayatollah Khomeini and his successors, three leaders of China, the North Korean Kim’s and Castro failed to accomplish during 83 years of effort. Our own leaders permanently silenced our voice, which was being beamed into dark places where people have been executed for having the courage to just listen. Suddenly up to 500 million listeners who were seeking the truth only heard the hollow silence of a deep abyss.

But nature and malignant malefactors abhor a vacuum. The powerful space we willingly vacated will be fill with obfuscations, misinformation and outright lies about America, what America is doing and what we stand for.

The is a reason our founding fathers included “freedom of speech, or of the press” in the very First Amendment of The Bill of Rights. After their experiences with King George, they fully understood these rights were, and are, of utmost importance.

And we just willy nilly, with no justification, permanently silenced ourselves!
