The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) recently held its annual Charity Bowling Tournament. The event is part of OBAR’s “Surf, Turf, and Roll” initiative, a series of three fundraising events, including a surf fishing, golf and bowling tournament, which invites the community to donate and support OBAR’s charitable funds. With nearly 20 teams participating, the OBX Bowling Alley in Nags Head was filled with the “Luck of the Irish” as bowlers celebrated St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

This year, The Kingpins, led by Steven Gillis of Steven Gillis State Farm, claimed first place for the second year in a row with a total of 1,706 points. Crackin’ Cold Ones from IDYourself followed closely behind with 1,690 points. The Lucky Charms from Coastal Carolina Vacations took home the Spirit Award.

Altogether, the tournament raised more than $7,000.

Chair Carrie Bateman and Co-Chair Tiffany Moldovan worked tirelessly to ensure the event was a fun-filled night for everyone. “Giving back while having fun is what Surf, Turf, and Roll is all about,” said Christi Bryant, OBAR president. “Carrie and Tiffany made sure this year’s bowling tournament was one to remember. We’re so grateful for their efforts!”

Proceeds from the tournament and accompanying auction will benefit OBAR’s scholarship and disaster relief funds, both held at the Outer Banks Community Foundation. Since their inception in the 1990s, the funds have awarded scholarships to more than 200 students and have provided assistance to those affected by storms and other crises on the Outer Banks.
