In addition to public comments on April 7, Dare County Board of Commissioners will conduct a hearing on a Buxton Zoning Map amendment.
William S. Quidley and John Canning asked for a zoning map change for properties located along NC 12 in Buxton. The parcels are currently zoned R-3 High Density Residential. The applicants are requesting to have three parcels rezoned C-3 Commercial. Favorable action to reclassify the three parcels C-3 Commercial was recommended by the Planning Board.
Three reports will be delivered.
Dave Peterson, Trillium Health Resources, north central regional director, will deliver Trillium’s 2024 annual report.
The board will hear a presentation about Hatteras Island Meals and the Cape Hatteras Food Pantry: Providing Hope and Fighting Food Insecurity on Hatteras Island.
The presentation will introduce the commissioners to Hatteras Island Meals and the new project organization has taken on called the Cape Hatteras Food Pantry, located in Buxton.
Presenters include Aida Havel, Maria Gould, Hatteras Island Meals president, and Cathy Diemer, director of Cape Hatteras Food Pantry.
Presenting the 2024-2025 Community Health Needs Assessment are Dr. Sheila Davies and Kelly Fleming.
Four items deal with other levels of government. One resolution encourages the General Assembly to grant county and municipalities in Dare County the authority to construct housing. The other items deal with legislation to discuss with lobbyist; supporting Senate Bill 248; and sending a letter to Congress supporting Sea Grant.
Four proclamations will be presented.
The April 7, 2025, meeting of the Dare County Board of Commissioners starts at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Dare County Administration Building, located at 954 Marshall C.
