Dare County Sheriff’s Office releases March crime blotter

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office blotter for felony crimes in March 2025 has been released. The blotter covers only the unincorporated areas of the county.

Ten crimes are listed and half are from Hatteras Island. Roanoke Island has three crimes listed. Martin’s Point and Colington have one apiece. Five crimes are listed as “under investigation.”

March 4: Breaking and Entering. 7000 block of Martin’s Point Rd., Martin’s Point. Unknown suspect entered a residence and stole an electronic device. Under investigation.

March 8: Larceny. 50000 block of Timber Trail, Frisco. Subject reported household items stolen after being evicted from the residence. Under investigation.

March 9: Larceny. 200 block of Roanoke Dr., Colington. Money and household items stolen from a residence. Under investigation.

March 12: Breaking and Entering. 48000 block of Daniel Lane, Buxton. Victim reports money and medication stolen from a camper trailer.

March 13: Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. 47000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Buxton. Medication reported missing from an unlocked vehicle.

Forgery and Uttering. 300 block of Water Plant Rd., Roanoke Island. Checks stolen, forged and used by suspect. Under investigation.

March 14: Larceny. 53000 block of NC 12 Hwy., Frisco. Tools reported stolen from an enclosed trailer.

March 22: Obtaining Property by False Pretenses. 100 block of Inge Dr., Roanoke Island. Victim sent $16,000 in gift cards to scammers posing as Federal Trade Commission employees. Under investigation.

March 24: Financial Card Fraud. 25000 block of Sea Vista Court, Waves. Email account was hacked resulting in other accounts being compromised. Under investigation.

March 25: Identity Theft. 100 block of Morrison Grove Rd., Roanoke Island. Victim’s Social Security number was used to file a false tax return.
