Dr. Debra Windley joined the Beaufort County Community College (Beaufort CCC) Board of Trustees on April 1. She was appointed by the Beaufort County Commissioners to succeed Teresa Canady, who recently retired from the board.

Windley is a retired educator and nonprofit founder with over 35 years of experience in K-12 education. She spent 19 years as a mathematics teacher before serving more than a decade in leadership roles, including assistant principal, principal and student services coordinator with the Beaufort County Schools. After retiring, she founded ESTEEM Consulting, Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on supporting academic success and advocacy.

She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from East Carolina University and remains dedicated to bridging educational gaps and empowering students. A lifelong resident of Beaufort County, Windley has maintained a strong connection to Beaufort CCC, having taken courses, participated in Small Business Center classes, and supported youth enrichment programs attended by her children. She and her husband Clyde have three adult children: Bruce, Kieran and Terrence.

The board supports the college’s mission to be an innovative, national leader among rural community colleges, advancing postsecondary education as a pathway to social and economic mobility for the region’s residents.
