December 21, 1955 – April 8, 2025
Stumpy Point, NC – Sheila G. Golden went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. She was born on December 21, 1955, and was the only child of H.O. and Grace Twiford Golden, who predeceased her. She is survived by Tanya Gillikin, Judy Gillikin, Sammy Taylor, Danny Taylor, Polly Wise and family, Bryan O’Neal and family, and Karen and Dean McClain and family. Sheila never met a stranger and leaves behind many friends who mourn her passing and will miss road trips with her, shopping adventures, seafood dinners, and endless stories.
Sheila was a true Dare County native who was raised in Stumpy Point and made her home there. She was a graduate of Manteo High School and Atlantic Christian, now Barton College. She retired from Dominion Power and considered her coworkers as her extended family. After retirement, Sheila worked at several local retail stores and found she had a knack for helping people shop, as she was an expert shopper.
Sheila was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women and held an office for many years. She assisted the local VFD in their fundraising activities, sold countless raffle tickets, and cooked for many bake sales and dinners. She was an officer in the Pilot Club and enjoyed the company of the members and working for their projects.
Sheila loved her home and Dare County and was an avid nature photographer. She was happiest on her porch overlooking the bay, surrounded by friends and Bailey the dog. She was a character and will be missed.
A memorial service for Sheila will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Shiloh Methodist Church at 256 Bayview Drive in Stumpy Point with Pastor John Bennett officiating. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Shiloh United Methodist Women.
Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
