North Carolina Marine Fisheries Proclamation FF-16-2025 establishes the recreational fishing seasons for snowy grouper and gag grouper in the waters under the jurisdiction of North Carolina and the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council.
The recreational season for snowy grouper will open at 12:01 a.m., May 1, 2025 and will close at 11:59 p.m., June 8, 2025.
The recreational season for gag grouper will open at 12:01 a.m., May 1, 2025 and will close at 11:59 p.m., June 25, 2025.
Also, it shall be unlawful for the captain and crew on a for-hire vessel with a federal or for-hire snapper-grouper permit to retain gag or black grouper.
