Exodus 37:1-5, “Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood—two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high. He overlaid it with pure gold, both inside and out, and made a gold molding around it. He cast four gold rings for it and fastened them to its four feet, with two rings on one side and two rings on the other. Then he made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold. And he inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry it.”
Remember Bezalel is one of the men that God blessed with the skills, abilities and aptitude to make the tabernacle and the furnishings for it. He and Oholiab were certainly not the only ones who were to work on the tabernacle, as there were others whom the Lord gave these skills and abilities to and Oholiab specifically was given the ability to teach others how to do these things. But Bezalel is mentioned specifically here.
I wonder why that is. The ark of the covenant was certainly a central part of the tabernacle. It was kept in the most holy place, and this was the place where God was seen to live. Maybe for that special item, it needed special attention. Bezalel is the first one mentioned as having these special God-given talents and abilities, maybe he was the master craftsman. This is just speculation and ponderings on my part. But think about it.
And maybe there is some job that God has designed just for you to do. Maybe he has given you some special talents or abilities that no one else has. What would that job be? To be sure, most of us would scratch our heads at that thought. We probably don’t think we are all that special, that we are not the best at doing anything. And there are a lot of talented people in this world. But have you ever thought that God has qualified you for some specific task? It might be to just minister to one person, to make a difference to them. Or maybe it is something else. Esther was told God had raised her up for such a time as this. What is going to be your time?
Father, help me be willing to do whatever you put before me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
