With summer just around the corner, it’s time to find the best-fit summer camp for your family and ensure your spot is secured.
“The YMCA of South Hampton Roads provides multiple opportunities for friendship, learning, and adventure for both kids and teens throughout the season,” stated a YMCA news release. “Summer camp is a great way to combine the importance of learning and healthy activity with long-awaited fun in the sun!”
“We were looking for a safe and affordable camp where our kids could stay active and have fun, and Camp Red Feather was a great fit,” said Alex Shleifman, Camp Red Feather parent. “They came home tired, happy, and full of stories about their day. The staff created a welcoming environment, and we felt confident they were in good hands. We’re looking forward to sending them back this year.”
“With over 140 years of summer camp under its belt, the YMCA is dedicated to the safety and well-being of all campers. Accredited by the American Camping Association, the YMCA of South Hampton Roads provides a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for every child through various activities guided by caring staff,” the release continued. “While safety is the top priority, the Y also strives to ensure every child has the best summer ever, which is why choosing the right summer camp is so important.”
Here are a few things to consider:
- What interests your child the most? From outdoors to STEM to arts and crafts or sports, choosing a camp that is exciting and meaningful to your child can ensure a more positive, engaging experience.
- Is the camp qualified to care for your child? Do they have safety policies? Staff training? Consider your child’s specific needs and if the camp can adequately provide support.
- Is this camp convenient? Whether it be timing, location or price, it is important to make sure it works best for you as a parent. Explore your location options and how they align with your schedule. Explore your options if financial assistance is needed.
- What will this camp provide for your child? Take a look at the environment the camp creates and any values they Are there any goals you or the camp have set in place to reach by the end of the summer?
“Spots for summer camp at the Y are filling up fast! Don’t miss out on a summer full of adventure, fun, and lasting memories. The Y remains dedicated to providing a nurturing and welcoming environment to all, regardless of age, income, or background,” stated the release. “With the generous support of donors, financial assistance is available through the Y’s scholarship program, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience the magic of camp.”
