COA summer camps return, registration now open

College of The Albemarle (COA) is once again offering a wide variety of summer camps for students across the region. Registration is now open for programs designed to educate, inspire and entertain youth from second grade (age 7) through 12th grade (age 18). Camps are available at all four COA locations: COA – Elizabeth City, COA – Currituck, COA – Dare and COA – Edenton-Chowan.

This year’s camps cover a broad range of interests, from aviation and manufacturing to art, theater and technology. Camp themes include:

  • Aviation Camp – Introduction to aerodynamics and wind tunnel experiments.
  • Camp Scrubs – Health Sciences – Hands-on learning in medical career pathways.
  • Cyber Security for Kids – Teaches digital safety and online awareness.
  • Financial Smarts – Basics of money management, saving and budgeting.
  • Kids Ceramic Camp – Hands-on pottery instruction and design.
  • Manufacturing Camp – Explores design, 3D printing and machining.
  • Sparky Welds Again – Safe, virtual welding simulation experience.
  • STEM Camps – Engaging activities in science, technology, engineering and math.
  • Technology is for Everyone – Hands-on IT, coding and circuit-building.

Other offerings include theater, music, culinary arts, HVAC, babysitting, fiber arts and more.

“Thanks to generous support from the STEMEast Network and COA’s Workforce Development programs, many camps — including STEM camps — are being offered at no cost this year,” noted a COA news release. Need-based scholarships are also available for select camps.
