February 5, 1943 – April 25, 2025

Manns Harbor, NC – Milborn McCoy “Coy” Ambrose, 82, of Manns Harbor, NC was called home April 25, 2025, by his Lord and Savior. He passed peacefully surrounded by love at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, NC. We lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle.

Loved dearly by his Manns Harbor parents, John Tom and Nancy Ambrose from 5 months old, his birth parents were Teco and Polly Ann Ambrose of East Lake, NC.

Coy began his life’s work on cars at Hassell & Creef for 13 years and then became the owner and operator of McCoy’s Body Shop for over 50 years.

He felt his mission in life was to live his testimony daily and to help someone every day. He loved his Lord, family, friends, and his church, Harbor Light Church, which he dedicated his life faithfully serving.

Coy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jeannette Tillett Ambrose; two daughters, Carol Copeland (Kevin) and Tyringa Crawford (Melvin); two granddaughters, Brittany Copeland and Amber Clinton (Eugene); special great-grandson, River; and many nieces and nephews. He loved each one dearly.

His legacy and memories are with us.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Harbor Light Church in Manns Harbor, NC, with Pastor Edwin Basnight and Rev. Anthony Ralph officiating. Private burial took place at Mt. Carmel Global Methodist Church Cemetery. A viewing and time of visitation was held Sunday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Twiford Outer Banks Chapel in Manteo, NC.
