Kill Devil Hills man charged with felony sexual activity by substitute parent or custodian

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has reported on the arrest of a Kill Devil Hills man for felony sexual activity.
According to a DCSO news release, on October 2024, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office received a report involving Joshua Lane in connection with alleged criminal activity. “Upon further investigation, including interviews with involved parties, probable cause was established to obtain two separate warrants for his arrest,” stated the release.
“The Hyde County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance in executing the warrants and temporarily held Mr. Lane in custody,” the release continued.
On April 25, 2025, at around 3:30 p.m., Lane was transferred from the Hyde Correctional Institution to the custody of the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.
Lane, 34, of Kill Devil Hills, has been charged with two counts of felony sexual activity by a substitute parent or custodian.
He is currently being held without bond at the Dare County Detention Center, according to the release.
