The May 8, 2025 installment of the “Science on the Sound” Lecture Series at the Coastal Studies Institute on the ECU Outer Banks Campus is set for 6 p.m. This monthly, in-person lecture series brings perspectives from all over the state and highlights coastal topics in northeastern North Carolina, noted the announcement from CSI.
In May, the students of UNC School of the Arts will present “See/a/Change: Arts, Science, and the Watershed,” a program which connects the arts, sciences and North Carolina watersheds through a variety of media including music, drama, film, dance, design and production.
Through the See/a/Change Arts Fellowship, a select group of undergraduate student artists nominated by the deans and faculty from the School of the Arts have created and collaborated to make new works as part of an interdisciplinary artistic team. They were guided by a small team of dedicated faculty: Dr. Jennifer Harris, Dr. Janna Levin and Dr. Rachel Williams. The team worked collectively over the course of a year to do field research across North Carolina, write proposals and create meaningful connections between the watershed in North Carolina, environmental justice, cultural change and the arts through the creation of visual and performing art pieces that spark public dialogue and reflection, stated the announcement.
The public is welcome to attend. Unlike most Science on the Sound programs, this special edition program will not be live-streamed.
