Nags Head, NC – Yvonne Hubbard, 78, of Nags Head, North Carolina, went home peacefully on April 29, 2025, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born on January 23, 1947, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Yvonne devoted her life to education. She began her career teaching kindergarten in Alabama, where her love for working with young children first blossomed. After moving to Nags Head, NC, she became the proud co-owner of Mother Hubbards Daycare alongside her partner and dear friend, Lucy Ferris. Later, she earned her master’s degree in education from Illinois State University and went on to teach special education in Springfield, Illinois, where her dedication left a lasting impact on many young lives.

A Christian by faith, Yvonne contributed significantly to the Lions Club and the National Education Association (NEA). Her presence and friendship enriched the lives of those around her, and her service to others will be fondly remembered.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her loving parents, Selby Stafford Hubbard and Benjamin Calloway Hubbard.

She leaves behind cherished memories with her daughter, Amanda Kornegay of Nags Head, NC, and her chosen son, Brandon Macsata of Hamden, CT. She was a proud Grandma Von to Sebastian Ryan Macsata of Hamden, CT. Her brothers, Cal Hubbard (Vivian) and Selby Hubbard (Debbie) of Bloomington, IL, and Joe Hubbard (Mona) of Bellflower, IL, along with her niece and many nephews, will fondly remember her as a beloved sister and aunt.

Gatherings of remembrance to celebrate Von’s life will be held in Nags Head, NC, Bloomington, IL, and Bibb County, AL at a later date. Her family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the love she shared with all who knew her.
