Cara Equils celebrated as Hyde County Schools District Teacher of the Year

Hyde County Schools has announced that the 2025-2026 District Teacher of the Year honor goes to Cara Equils, career and technical education teacher at Mattamuskeet School.

The entire school got together on May 8 to surprise her with the announcement, and it was a very emotional moment for her, noted a news release from HCS.

“We congratulate her on this accomplishment, and we cannot wait to see her represent our school system as North Carolina selects the Regional and then State Teacher of the Year,” the release continued.

Equils will officially be honored by the Hyde County Board of Education in the fall.
