His body was located the next day about two miles north of Oregon Inlet and two-and-half miles offshore by a local fisherman. North Carolina Marine Patrol recovered the body, which is now with the state’s Medical Examiner.

As of mid-day Friday, Johnson’s dog has not been seen.

Sgt. Anna E. Barbosa with North Carolina Wildlife Commission stated the agency is still searching for the vessel. She received a report of a found vessel but it did not match the description. Those who spot a gray 18-foot Maycraft should call her at 252-947-1510.
