Shown is what is thought to be the largest bear on Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge.
The North American black bear is the only bear species found in North Carolina.
Black bears can grow up to 700 pounds.
“They are omnivores, eating just about anything they want,” noted USFWS. “And from the look of the bear in the photos that’s just what it does!”
