Columbia Early College High School has announced that senior Riely Taylor has officially committed to continue her academic and athletic career at Mid-Atlantic Christian University, where she will compete in volleyball, basketball and softball.
Taylor, a well-rounded volleyball and basketball player as well as a commanding catcher for the Columbia Early College Wildcats, signed her official letter of intent on May 22, surrounded by family, her softball coach and school principal.
“We are incredibly proud of Riely and all she has accomplished during her time at Columbia Early College,” said Bree Atkinson, head coach of the CECHS softball team. “She exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete, excelling both on the field and in the classroom. Her dedication, hard work, and leadership will be greatly missed, but we are excited to see her thrive at the collegiate level.”
Academically, Taylor maintained a 3.6 GPA while taking both high school and college courses. She plans to study business administration at Mid-Atlantic Christian University.
“I’m so grateful for the support of my family, coaches, and teammates at Columbia Early College High School,” said Taylor. “They’ve pushed me to be my best, and I can’t wait to start this new chapter at Mid-Atlantic Christian University. I’m excited to join the Mustangs and compete at the next level.”
Mid-Atlantic Christian University is a USCAA Division I Christian university located in Elizabeth City. The Mustangs program is known for its strong academic support for athletes, building strong Christian friendships, and renowned coaching staff, noted a Tyrrell County Schools news release.
Taylor will officially join the Mid-Atlantic Christian University volleyball and basketball teams in the fall of 2025, and the softball team in the spring of 2026.
