The Roanoke Island Garden Club recently celebrated the close of the September 2024-2025 season.
Members gathered in the Pioneer Theater Garden for refreshments and final business meeting. Following the meeting, members went into the historical theater and enjoyed popcorn and beverages while viewing the movie “A Little Chaos” about a female landscaper/designer who was commissioned by Louis XIV to design a garden at Versailles.
To close out the season, members enjoyed a tour of the new facility, The Pearl. The rooftop setting features private greenspace with 360 degree views of historical downtown Manteo.
New officers sworn in for a two-year term were Cheryl Anby, treasurer; Terri Cullen, vice president; Jaye Massecar, president; and Barbara Sibunka, secretary.
The next meeting will be held September 4 at noon in Odom Hall, The Elizabethan Gardens.
The club sponsors educational programs about all aspects of gardening and promotes a variety of community garden-related projects. Guests are welcome at the meetings and membership is open to all interested gardeners.
