A mother black bear and three cubs are shown at Creef Cut Wildlife Trail on Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. This is a popular walking trail and one of only two designated refuge walking trails.

“We recommend staying at least 1,000 yards away from bears. Use your binoculars, scopes and telephoto lens to feel like you’re closer,” stated USFWS.

When in known wild bear areas, it is advised follow practical tips found at bearwise.org/six-outdoor-bearwise-basics/.
