Currituck County staff began assembling Narcan safety kits on June 12, 2025 that will be distributed in the community. Each kit contains Narcan, medicine disposal materials, and information on local resources to help those who may suffer from opioid abuse, noted a news release from the county.

This effort is part of Currituck’s new opioid program that is working to combat opioid abuse in the community.

Narcan kits will be used by the Fire-Emergency Medical Services Department and the Sheriff’s Office when responding to opioid overdose situations. Individuals in Currituck may receive a free Narcan kit and learn more about the opioid program by contacting the program coordinator Angela Lottman at 252-273-9632.
