Dare County Youth Exhibition on display at Glenn Eure’s Ghost Fleet Gallery through January 18

Jazz Era, a charcoal and watercolor work by Alyse Stewart, was selected for special Gallery Recognition at the Dare County Youth Exhibition on display at Glenn Eure’s Ghost Fleet Gallery in Nags Head through January 18. She is an eleventh grade student at Manteo High School.

Also catching the judge’s eye was the delightful Woman’s Face, created by First Flight Elementary School second grader Charlie Slater.

Eighth grade students at Manteo Middle School outdid themselves in this year’s exhibition with paintings made during canvas and vinyl (using old LPs) pours. Their collaborative displays are available for viewing at the gallery during show hours, noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Other young artists receiving recognitions include:  Natalia Buchta, fifth grade at Manteo Elementary School; Gray Burke, twelfth grade at Manteo High School; Layla Evans; Kitty Hawk Elementary School; Anna France, eleventh grade at Cape Hatteras Secondary School; Chyla Huber; twelfth grade at First Flight High School; Jacqueline Kuhn, twelfth grade at First Flight High School; Hunter Nelson, Nags Head Elementary School; Heather Snyder,  eighth grade at First Flight Middle School; Adayah Williams, kindergarten at Cape Hatteras Elementary School, and Manteo Middle School sixth graders who collaborated on a Dream Tree.

“I would say the 2019 display of young artists’ work is joyful,” commented Glenn Eure’s Ghost Fleet “gallery wife” Pat Eure. “Dare County’s art teachers deserve high praise for their role in helping develop artistic expression.”
