Artrageous set for May 11, vendor and host apps due April 5
Dare County Arts Council’s longest running kids’ art program, the Artrageous Kids Art Festival, will be celebrating its 30th year Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dowdy Park in Nags Head.
Stained glass making, painting, beading and blacksmithing are just a few examples of the 20 plus high-quality kids art activities that will take place at the free, family-friendly event.
This year’s theme, A Big, Bright, Beautiful World, will provide children with the opportunity to create and celebrate art, diversity and culture in our community and around the world.
“With this year’s theme, we hope to connect young artists with a diverse group of community organizations while giving them the opportunity to learn about the different techniques, patterns, colors and sounds from around the world through art,” said Artrageous Kids Art Festival event chair Jessica Sands.
Artrageous will also feature live music and dance performances along with local artisans selling creative goods and a variety of local restaurants selling lunch items and sweet treats.

Organizations and businesses interested in hosting a kids’ art activity and artisans interested in selling their works at Artrageous can find the applications online at DareArts.org/artrageous and at the DCAC Gallery in Manteo. The application deadline is April 5.
“The Town of Nags Head is excited to partner with Dare County Arts Council to host the Artrageous Kids Art Festival at Dowdy Park for the third consecutive year,” said Nags Head Mayor Ben Cahoon. “We look forward to seeing our community come together for a full day of art and fun. This event is a great way to kick off the summer season at Dowdy Park.”

The Artrageous Youth Scholarship Fund awards one scholarship to a senior at each Dare County High School every year.
